As PUBG is approaching the moment will be launched as Version 1.0, changes are getting more and more drastic.
Here’s a quick run down of the most interesting new features:
Vaulting and Climbing
The end of the infamous crouch jump, vaulting now allows to get through obstacles such as windows with relative ease. Also, this would squash the bug of crouch jumping through windows not making any noise (which used to give more experienced players a pretty unfair advantage in urban areas).
Ballistics Overhaul
The ballistics have now been overhauled to make the game more realistic. Bullet drag has been introduced, such that the bullets now have a long travel time but a larger drop.
All weapons are also more accurate at medium range (300m), making them more realistic.
Hitboxes Overhaul
Hitboxes have also been completely modified: now, damage to the limbs is not as severe and scales proportionally to how close to the chest you get hit. Also the neck is protected by the helmet, which will give a 25% attenuation to the headshot bonus.
More damage to chest area as well. (Check out the graph below). Some scopes will also be adjustable, and zeroing is going to be specific to different weapon types.
Brand New UI
This is probably my favorite change, and it’s the completely redesigned UI. It’s now clearer and way more polished.
The minimap is less saturated so that you can see markers better. Squad players will be very pleased with the new team member markers, which will show their FOV on the map itself. In a way, I’m sad there won’t be any more frantic number call outs on voice chat, but hey, it’s a nice feature.
Lots of other small UI changes which are bound to make a big difference, the overhauled killfeed, red text on items when your backpack is full, and a pretty cool killcam, which will make dying just a little bit better (“that’s where s/he was!”)
Sounds
All sorts of sounds have been updated, and this will be especially noticeable when driving vehicles. Also, now there will be a sound warning you when you’re near the edge of the blue circle.
In Conclusion
Version 1.o, which is currently being tested on the Test Server until December 1st, looks like a fantastic upgrade to an already awesome game. What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments!
